Labels:text | screenshot OCR: Demonstrate When he drops triangular and rectangular objects onto the water's surface, Leonardo observes an intriguing result: "An object of triangular shape dropped flat on the water will produce an almost circular motion; an elongated object will also cause circular waves on the percussed surface." (14v) Leonardo's experiments are duplicated here in a glass-bottomed tank so that the illuminated surface waves are visible from below. As in Leonardo's sketches, when a triangular object and a rectangular object are dropped to generate waves, in both cases the wave shape, initially determined by the shape of the object, soon becomes circular.
